Move in to Lasem (One of The City of Batik in Indonesia)

Ohayou minna-san,

It is really nice to see you again. Well, Today I'm getting ready to move in the next town, it's about 20 minutes bike ride from my worK previously. The place name is Lasem, it's a small town in the northern island of Central Java Indonesia. This town has a very well-known handicraft, name is "Batik Lasem."

Talk about batik, in addition to the typical motifs and patterns, especially the chicken blood red color that is difficult forged by batik from other regions, batik from district 13 km, east of Rembang is also unique because it has a written record of the history of the beginnings of the emergence of Batik Lasem.

Batik Lasem also become the frontline when it comes to assimilation of ethnic Javanese and Chinese. Even Batik Lasem often associated with survival, the economy of a city. Babad Lasem by Mpu Badra in 1401 Saka (1479 AD, RED), rewritten by R Panji Kamzah in 1858 mentions Bi Nang Un, a crew of  Dhang Puhawang Tzeng, Tiong Hwa Ho of the State, after seeing the natural beauty of Java, choose settled in Bonang along with his wife Li Na Ni. In place of a new habitation, Na Li Ni smuggle phoenix motif, liong, chrysanthemums, latticework, currency and chicken blood red color typical Tiong Hwa in batik. Because of this unique Typically, Batik Lasem the most important place in world trade. Merchants islands by ship and then send Batik Lasem throughout the archipelago of Indonesia.
